The Holiday Office Party is just around the corner,
are you ready to put your best foot forward and make a fabulous impression?
Do’s
- A smile in one of the easiest ways to build your business.
- Sign each business holiday card by hand and add a personal note.
- Attending the Holiday Office Party is not an option. It is a business requirement. Do enjoy yourself.
- Arrive on time (in the business setting 10 minutes prior to the event).
- Be Present, be Pleasant, and be Positive.
- Know how to make a proper introduction.
- When toasting, the person being toasted remains seated and does not raise a glass.
- Take time to network as the more business contacts you make the easier it is to do business down the road.
- Thank the people responsible for planning and coordinating the office party.
- Send a hand-written thank you note to top management for hosting the party.
Don’ts:
- Don’t bring uninvited guest.
- Don’t arrive late.
- Don’t arrive with a bouquet of fresh cut flowers. The host has to take time to find a vase, fill with water, and arrange the bouquet.
- Consider taking the host/hostess a candle, coasters, napkins, note cards, or box of chocolates.
- Don’t come to the table with your cell phone.
- Don’t heap you plate full of food in the buffet line. Save some shrimp for the people coming behind you.
- Don’t use your napkin for anything except to blot your mouth.
- Don’t talk about politics, religion, sex, diet, or off color jokes. Read the first three pages of the Wall Street Journal and talk business.
- Don’t begin to eat until the host/hostess has welcomed everyone and asked for the blessing.
- Don’t ask for any condiment that is not on the table.
- Don’t leave the table until everyone has finished eating, and the host/hostess rises from the table.
- Don’t over consume… anything. While it’s fun to hang out with your office buddies, don’t monopolize them, the buffet table, or the bar.
- Don’t get drunk as it is never a good reflection on you.
- Don’t cry over spilled wine.
- Don’t let anyone drink and drive. Be safe and call a cab.
On behalf of First Impressions Training (FIT) have a wonderful Holiday Season
enjoying family, friends, and collegues
